How we spent our Summer Vacation in

Ireland

6-7-00

It's been nearly a year since our trip to Ireland.  It seems like only yesterday  we rented a car at Dublin Airport, figured out how to drive on the wrong side of the road in rush hour traffic and found our way to Lorum Old Rectory in Bagenelstown where we started our vacation.  I created this web site as we traveled and posted new information every couple days as time and internet accessibility would permit.  Many thanks to the warm welcome we received from the Irish people both in the Republic (Southern Ireland) and in Ulster (Northern Ireland)

Kathy and I spent two great weeks going where the mood moved us.  We generally went clock wise but not always.  We stayed at B&B's and with the exception of the first three nights (reserved before we left Seattle) found new accommodations on a daily basis.   We never had a problem finding food or shelter.  Hiring a car made coming and going easier, but I will admit that driving in Ireland is an interesting experience to say the least.

The links on the left show where we stayed and where we traveled.  Be sure to check out Jack the Ball.  He was a fun traveling companion.

If you have any questions about the who, what, where, when or how of traveling to Ireland please feel free to email Kathy or  myself.  (links below) We had  a great time and hope anyone going to Ireland will have as much fun.

7-21-99 (our last posting before leaving)

Well, this is our last night in Ireland.  It has been a great trip.  Kathy and I will have lots of stories to tell; new friends and acquaintances and lots of memories.

Visit the links on the left and travel with us as we tour this beautiful country.  We threw the itinerary out the window.   We only had the first three nights planned anyway.

Weather started warm and sunny, but cooled off during the second week.  Cloudy, cool, occasional showers and mixed sun breaks.  The weather was still beautiful.   The green hills glistened with the sun and showers.

We have seen so much but there is so much we have missed.  We had a  blast.  We met lots of people from all over the world (the tourists out number the local population) but missed our friends and family in Seattle.

We will answer e-mail as we can,  please know that we do appreciate the mail we are getting.  Will reply as quick as possible.  Keep it coming.

This may be the last update from Ireland, but not the last update.  I took in the neighborhood of 700 digital photos and Kathy took about 360 35mm prints.  So there is a lot more to see in  the coming months.

E-mail   Jim  or   Kathy ,  We'd love to hear from you!
